- Lion Alan Thoo to Leo Heng Wei Yit : From that day onwards .. I knew .. you will be one of those who will make it as a future Leader who will bring glory to not only your club but your region . I am proud to serve the district with people like you as LEO as you take up that right hand not just a matter of reading the LEO pledge .. but you mean it when you say ... "I Pledge of Mah Hands ... You cannot open a book without learning something - Confucius

A bookshelf filled with books, in one of the homes

Bookshelves contributed by the Leo Club of Petaling Jaya Integrity  (o)

Some of the books contributed by our club funds :)

Here at the Leo Club of SMK USJ 8, we prize knowledge and learning as they are essential to a person's future. That's why we contributed RM 120 to the Leo Club of Petaling Jaya Integrity (o) to purchase books for the needy in the Home of Peace, Charis Home and Trinity Home to help spread literacy. Although it might only look like a small gesture to some, we believe that these small steps will eventually help create a brighter future for the children living in those homes.

Kindness to all sentient beings

December 5th is known to most as just an ordinary date, but to Leo and Lion's members, it holds great meaning. The fifth  of December is known as International Leo Day to us, and it is the day we celebrate the spirit of being a Leo - to serve and empower communities ; to help the needy and to help the weak. That is why on the 5th of December 2012, Leo members from the Leo Club of Sri Kuala Lumpur and the Leo Club of SMK USJ 8 decided to donate RM 200 worth of items to SPCA Selangor ,which included dog food, cat litter, flea shampoo, etc. Not only that, they decided to help with cleaning up SPCA, which receives 600-700 unwanted, lost or neglected animals per month. We were proud to have helped SPCA Selangor and would surely love to come by and volunteer once more in the future.

OH MY ! LOOK AT ALL THOSE BOOKS !

The books gathered by the Leos, and generously donated by members of the public

Our club is proud to announce that it is one of the Leo clubs that participated and co-organized the Global Reading Action Program that occurred on the 23rd of November 2012 ! From Brazil to Bangladesh and from Nepal to Colombia, our club was one of the 6 clubs in this meaningful event ! The project's main purpose was to spread literacy among the young and the needy, but our club also gave an extra hand to the orphanage home of Rumah Kanak Kanak K.I.D.S. by cleaning the place up. Leos from ages 13-16 worked hand in hand with mopping and sweeping the floors and wiping windows. After 2 hours of cleaning, the work was finished ! Although beads of sweat appeared on everyone's forehead, the smiling faces of young orphans were the best reward we could have received. It was our pleasure, to serve.
