B.O.D.s In Training

Hello All!
Today we have special news for the Form 3 and Form 4/2013 LEOs of SMKUSJ 8. This year, the Board of Directors have decided that they will hold a mini workshop of sorts, to let the next batch of LEOs understand the fun and responsibility that comes with the titles that they upheld.

In the time that comes, Form 3 and Form 4 LEOs can choose which post that they wish to inherit, and they will be taken under the present B.O.D.s wing to be taught and refined. They will get to experience and understand the importance of the post they have chosen.

Many juniors have not realised that having these titles are not just a show of power, that they are actually the backbone of our club and is what keeps it going.

So please do not hesitate to join this humble program of ours.

For more information please meet LEO Heng Wei Yit at Class 5 Bestari.

On 4th of December 2012, our club joined a project organized by our sponsoring Lion's club, the Lion's Club of Subang Jaya with the United Learning Center at Jalan Imbi. We started the project by donating RM 200 worth of rice and Milo powder to the members of the ULC as we hope it would ease their everyday burdens. The project then continued in Zoo Negara, where we brought the children from ULC to visit the zoo; we also had the opportunity to learn a few phrases in Burmese from the children and teachers from ULC. At 1:00 p.m. we distributed food to the Lion's and participants of the project, including some of the volunteers who give their support to ULC by taking care of the children. Of course being Leos, we helped with the clean up as well, clearing the area of rubbish and gathering the children when it was time to bid farewell. The project was truly an interesting experience for us, the children from ULC were very friendly and adorable, we hope that we may once again join our fellow Lions in such a meaningful project in the near future.

A New Year, A New Start and More Minions!

Hello all,
It's the third day into 2013. As for us USJ8 LEO B.O.D.s, I'm sure we are all excited to see our club's new additions! On Monday, our school will have the Persatuan 'Race-to-Get'. I'm hoping many will choose to join the LEO club this year as well.

It is time they know the fun and how crazy our Saturday meetings can get!

Here's my ROAR goodbye!

You cannot open a book without learning something - Confucius

A bookshelf filled with books, in one of the homes

Bookshelves contributed by the Leo Club of Petaling Jaya Integrity  (o)

Some of the books contributed by our club funds :)

Here at the Leo Club of SMK USJ 8, we prize knowledge and learning as they are essential to a person's future. That's why we contributed RM 120 to the Leo Club of Petaling Jaya Integrity (o) to purchase books for the needy in the Home of Peace, Charis Home and Trinity Home to help spread literacy. Although it might only look like a small gesture to some, we believe that these small steps will eventually help create a brighter future for the children living in those homes.

Kindness to all sentient beings

December 5th is known to most as just an ordinary date, but to Leo and Lion's members, it holds great meaning. The fifth  of December is known as International Leo Day to us, and it is the day we celebrate the spirit of being a Leo - to serve and empower communities ; to help the needy and to help the weak. That is why on the 5th of December 2012, Leo members from the Leo Club of Sri Kuala Lumpur and the Leo Club of SMK USJ 8 decided to donate RM 200 worth of items to SPCA Selangor ,which included dog food, cat litter, flea shampoo, etc. Not only that, they decided to help with cleaning up SPCA, which receives 600-700 unwanted, lost or neglected animals per month. We were proud to have helped SPCA Selangor and would surely love to come by and volunteer once more in the future.
