M.A.D Project

On the 28th of August 2010, the Leo Club of SMK USJ 8 created a garden in conjunction with the MAD project organized by the Lions Club. The theme of the project is “Adopting a MAD lifestyle”, which encourages us Leos to adopt making a difference in our lifestyles.

The project kicked off at 9.02 a.m with the President, Leo Kar Yern calling Lion Alan Too, as well as taking a couple of group pictures together with our banners.

The participating students were divided into three groups where half of them mixed the soil for planting the plants, while the other half prepared the plants by removing them off the polystyrene bags. The weather was perfect for planting and we managed to finish the job by 11.30 am.

At approximately eleven o’ clock Lion Baki Zainal, Lion Alan and Lion Zenny came with their crew members and applauded our work as well as joined in the fun, taking pictures and distributing badges to all the members who came for the event.

Their presence encouraged the members to work harder, and eventually we managed to clean up and take a few pictures together. A certificate was presented to Leo Chin Kar Yern, for recognizing the MAD project our school has done.

Before we left, the newspapers collected the day before were arranged near the school stairs to be recycled in the future to cover our costs for the MAD project.

Below are some pictures of the project.

The Report for 3+2 Joint Installation

On 8th August 2010, Leo Kar Yern attended the 3+2 Installation of the Leo Club of Ipoh Metro Omega, Leo Club of Ipoh Unity, Lions Club of Ipoh Metro New Century, Lions Club of Ipoh Bougainvillaea and the Leo Cabinet of District 308 B2 at the Tower Regency Hotel in Ipoh, Perak.

It was an exciting event as we get to witness the formation of 2 new clubs, which is the Lions Club of Ipoh Metro New Century and Leo Club of IMO! The Leo Club of IMO even has a cool roar with the tune of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance"! I'm being serious here!!

The Leo Club of IMO will be going through a strong start as the club is headed by Leo Zenny Lyn!! She's known as the winner of the Biggest Loser Asia show and a great singer with killer vocals and has also headed in the Forum 2010's Banquet Night!

Also, we got to see the Leo Cabinet being installed for the second time during the event. The President of the Leo Cabinet is Leo Eliza Chia. This is her 2nd time being the District President.

We are looking forward with working with the Leo Club of Ipoh Metro Omega and also receiving guidance from the Leo Cabinet.
