Mid-Autumn Festival

something from the OC of the event:

On the 13th of September 2008, the Leo Club of SMK USJ 8 had organized a mooncake festival for the students to attend and have fun at that night. The time was kinda between 7.15 p.m to 11.30 p.m and it was held at the Goodyear Court 7 Hall.

The event was well received by both morning sessions and afternoon sessions. Even students from other schools came for this event. Some guests, however did not contact the committee to book their place and decided to sign up their names during the last few moments before the festival started. Still, it wasn't their fault as the flyers didn't mention the need to reserve their places first.

The event started off with a speech by Puan Vasantha, the Faculty Advisor of the Leo Club of SMK USJ 8, another one by Leo Lee Pei Wen, the President of the club, and a few words by Leo Chin Kar Yern, the Organizing Chairperson of the festival's committee.

Then, there was the roll call for all the committees of the project, starting with Organizing Chairperson, then the Assistant Organizing Chairperson which is Leo Chua Mun Ying, the Secretary which is Leo Carmen Lee, the Treasurer which is Leo Asha Baala and then the Publicity Director which is Leo Tham Zhi Juin.

After that, every Leo in the hall did the Leo Pledge, and the event started off with Leo Emily Soh playing the traditional gu-zheng, a chinese musical instrument, and then followed by Leo Chua Mun Ying. The duo strummed with their fingernails the music of peace and harmony, soothing the crowd with the alluring music.

Next, Leo Sean Wong, Andrew Ng strummed their guitars with Simon Bush playing the bongos as they played and sang numerous songs to entertain the guests. Next was the first game, "Pick and Match", a game where a pair is picked randomly to dance in front, accompanied by music of course. Unfortunately, most of the guests weren't sporting enough and just stood there. Haizzz...

After another game, which is "Surprise, Surprise",where you're blindfolded and have to guess what item you're touching, the guests enjoy the meal provided during the event, which is, curry chicken, fried mee hoon siam, fried rice, fish balls, spaghetti/fettucine carbonara/bolognaise, mixed vegetables, fruits, jelly cups and a punch. Yum!

Right after that, the night starts to heat up as the Synclonize (Please forgive me if I misspelled the name) kick it up on stage and show their unique dance moves to everyone. Later on, there was a game where you have to pop a bunch of balloons and the first one to pop all the balloons wins.

The next performance was a duet piano performance by Shawn Poh and Abel Chan; they played a song titled, "Carmen". And then again, the Marios (same people as Synclonize) rocked the hall again with a different song. Lastly, as everybody began to left, there was a game called "Off,Candle,Off!" which you'll have to blow all the candles by a borderline to win. The guests were invited to eat and savour the unique mooncakes prepared during the night as they left.

Lol, it was one hell of a night! The committee had to clean up everything! Then, some of the guests started throwing people into the swimming pool for fun! Kind of that is all for the Mooncake Festival. Hope that next time a better one will be held at least in a bigger hall or outdoors.
